Dallas’ Largest Police, Fire Associations Endorse Mayor Johnson for Re-Election
In unprecedented announcement, Association heads say the decision was “incredibly easy,” citing Mayor Johnson’s strong support of police officers and firefighters and strong public safety stance
The Dallas Police Association and Dallas Fire Fighters Association have endorsed Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson for re-election.
The strong and unequivocal endorsements are unprecedented. It is unheard of that the largest police and fire associations in the City of Dallas would come out several months before an election and endorse.
Here is some of what the associations had to say about Mayor Johnson:
“Since his election in 2019, Mayor Johnson has been a strong leader on all public safety issues. Mayor Johnson has fought to ensure the Dallas Fire Department had the funding for much-needed repair and replacement of equipment, and the repairs of fire stations. Mayor Johnson also led the charge to ensure that fire fighters and other city first responders received mental health leave. We urge the voters of Dallas to re-elect him as mayor.” — Jim McDade, President of the Dallas Fire Fighters Association
“We can think of very few Mayors in Dallas’ history that have worked as hard as Eric Johnson to support our officers and protect families from violent crime. His refreshing and unwavering support of the men and women who risk their lives for a safer Dallas stood in direct contrast to those voices by anti-law enforcement extremists within our city and state that wanted to defund and vilify the police in an attempt to divide our community. Mayor Johnson stood on his common-sense leadership and convictions of what is right for Dallas and that his earned him the support and endorsement of the Dallas Police Association.” — Mike Mata, President of the Dallas Police Association
Their words say it all: Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is the strongest mayor in the United States of America when it comes to public safety. While other major cities in the country saw violent crime go up last year, it went down in Dallas thanks to Mayor Johnson’s tireless efforts to support our city’s first responders and put public safety first.
